Why we love Broken Bow…
Broken Bow is our retreat into nature. This little town is our escape from city life and less than 3 hours away from Dallas. When we are here we take full advantage of all the charm the town has to offer. To give you some ideas to help you plan your trip here are activities we love enjoying when we go!
If you are looking for something to do at the cabin, there’s plenty of nature watching! In the early morning we’ve seen deer at the back of the property running through the trees and many species of birds in the treetops. We’ve loaded our cabins up with plenty of games so you can find something for everyone! At night, we love kicking back around the campfire surrounded by the tall pine trees and listening to the fire crackle.
Our family could spend all day in Beavers Bend State Park. We go hiking on one of the many trails (we use the AllTrails app, our favorite trail is the Friends Trail Loop!), fly fishing with our favorite guide Chris Schatte @BeaversBendFlyFishing, or renting a boat for the day from Beaver’s Bend Marina!
We usually grocery shop and bring food up to the cabin with us to cook/grill and eat in the beautiful scenery surrounding us. But when we aren’t up for cooking we take a short drive and there are plenty of restaurants. Our local favorites are The Eat Out, or Stevens Gap for a great “home cooking” comfort breakfast. Hochatown Saloon a great place to stop for a burger and our all time favorite for pizza is Grateful Head Pizza Oven & Tap Room! Mountain Fork Brewery is also another great option for pizza with many more menu options and you can also try a locally brewed beer. An all time favorite is the chicken fried steak from Abendigos! Shuck Me is another great spot for an ice cold schooner and just about anything fried.
